Hinulugang Taktak is one of the falls that many of us know, because of the infamous folk song that went “Tara na sa Antipolo, at doon maligo tayo!” and, also because of its proximity to Manila. Unfortunately, it is perhaps because of this proximity to human settlements that the falls seem quite neglected. The waterfalls is visually picturesque but it smelled like detergent from all the residents doing their laundry upstream. Surrounding the falls is a park where families can have picnics. There’s also a swimming pool downstream.

Daranak falls is located in Brgy. Sampaloc , Tanay, Rizal, a few minutes from Tanay market. It is a government-owned park and part of the laguna watershed. If you are going by private vehicle, just follow the road going to Laguna from Antipolo. At the Daranak-Tanay junction (see waypoint), turn left and head straight uphill. You will see a sign "To Daranak Falls" at the left side of the road. You have to turn left here. It's hard to miss since there are several fruit stands on both sides of the road which sell fruits in season. Once you have turned left, just go straight, passing by several farms (poultry and hog) which you will notice by the smell =). Check you brakes as you will pass by rocky steep roads. You will arrive at the parking area of Daranak at the end of this road. You have to pay for parking (i forgot the price), entrance fee (about P20/person) and cottages (about P350 for a small one). Overnight stay is not accommodated.

Batlag FallsSituated in a luxuriant habitat of the mountain forest lies a visceral paradise much much admired for its two famous waterfalls, the Daranak and Batlag Falls; Set in a vivacious milieu of exquisite flora and fauna.

Magnificent in its 14 meters lunge, the Daranak Falls create a lyrical yet powerful uproar gently breaking the pristine silence underneath, making its oval basin more inviting as pressures from the cascading waters could very well provide a healthy invigorating massage.

Enchanting in its captivating ease, the Batlag Falls, though smaller, is a tranquil haven of cool and gentle waters. A soothing respite perfected in a splendid fusion of natures aesthetic wonders.
